چکیده

Wideband dual-polarization performance is desired for low-noise receivers and radiom eters at cent imete r and m illimeter wavelengths. The use of a waveguide orthomode transducer (OMT) can increase spectral coverage and sensitivity while reducing exit aperture size, optical spill, and instrumental polarization offsets. For these reasons, an orthomode junction is favored over a traditional quasi-op tical wire grid for focal plane imaging arrays from a systems perspective. The fabrication and pe rformance o f wideban d symm etric Bøifot OM T junctions at K -, Ka-, Q-, and W-bands are described. Typical WR10.0 units have an insertion loss of <0.2 dB , return loss ~20dB, and >40dB isolation over a >75-to-110 GHz band. The OMT operates with reduced ohmic losses at cryogenic temperatures.

Generalized Modal Scattering Matrix of Discontinuity-distorted Waveguide Multiport Junctions

A generalized modal scattering matrix formulation is presented for the calculation of discontinuity-distorted waveguide multiport junctions. Unlike common approaches based on three-plane mode-matching techniques, and modifications thereof, which calculate only the fundamental-mode scattering matrix, this algorithm computes the generalized modal scattering matrix of the junction. Therefore, the ...

Tests of a planar L-band orthomode transducer in circular waveguide

This note describes tests made in March 2000 of a planar L-band orthomode transducer. The transducer consists of 4 probes symmetrically arranged in a circular waveguide and two wideband baluns, made from back-to-back slotline-to-microstrip transitions. We designed this device to model the performance of a millimeter wave transducer where probes and baluns are microfabricated with SiON thin-film...

Numerical Simulation of CdS/CIGS Tandem Multi-Junction Solar Cells with AMPS-1D

Numerical modeling of polycrystalline thin-film solar cell serves as an imperative procedure to test the suitability of proposed physical clarification and to anticipate the effect of physical changes on cell performance. All in all, this must be conducted with only partial knowledge of input parameters. In this paper, we evaluated the numerical simulation of CdS/CIGS tandem multi junction sola...
